The grace of our Ming-proportioned wooden furniture, the rustically hand-woven wicker baskets - they evoke a sense of the Oriental mysticism with low-key opulence. The Persimmon Home style speaks of a minimalist language that takes the best out of the form and materiality of home furnishings from the Orient and reinterpreting them by stripping away the excessive. We have selected a collection of furniture and accessories that are examples of purity and truth. We promote a kind of functional decoration where the appreciation of objects are based on the simplicity in form, richness in materiality and texture that lead to the simplification of harmonious living.

The Story

Persimmon Home was founded in 1998 in Hong Kong by Simon Lee who has been professionally trained as an architect in Vancouver, Canada. Upon his return to Hong Kong working in the field of architecture, he begins to develop an interest in Ming-style furnishings and is fascinated by the simplicity of line and curves found in the bare-bone structure minus the fancy carvings in these furnishings and accessories.

Persimmon Home likens its furnishing style to the western tradition of Bauhaus, which is minimalist in form and stresses modernity and functionality. It is by coincidence that the Ming- style furnishing originated in the 14th Century in China carries this similar concept which makes a perfect east-west fusion for those individuals seeking for this highly treasured style in this modern day world.
